Meet Mellreanna Ferguson

Mellreanna Ferguson, born on January 11, 2001, was diagnosed with a rare cancer at age 13, becoming the first and only survivor in America at the time. Now 23 and a 10-year cancer survivor, she is pursuing her dream of becoming a physician. She is currently studying for an M.S. in Medical Physiology at Case Western Reserve University, graduating in May 2025. Mellreanna holds a B.A. in Biomedical Humanities, Communication, Biology, and Chemistry from Hiram College. Her educational journey also includes studies at Southern California University of Health Sciences, Kent State University at Trumbull, Eastern Gateway Community College, and Warren G. Harding High School, from which she graduated in 2019.
Mellreanna Ferguson’s journey from a young cancer survivor to an aspiring physician is deeply intertwined with her faith and personal experiences. Her battle with cancer, coupled with her commitment to caregiving for her family, has not only shaped her resilience but also strengthened her spiritual convictions. Throughout her challenges, Mellreanna’s faith in God has provided her with hope and purpose.
