Finding Financial Assistance: Scholarships to Apply to in December 2024
Law school can be expensive, and for many prospective students, the cost can be a major concern. However, there are numerous scholarship opportunities available to help alleviate some of that financial burden. While some application deadlines may have passed, many new scholarships have recently opened, offering fresh opportunities for applicants. At Barrier Breakers®, Inc., our mission is to support students on their journey to law school by providing resources and services that include helping them secure financial assistance to reduce the stress of tuition costs.
Several organizations offer scholarships to assist both prospective and current law students with their education expenses. The more you search and apply for these opportunities, the greater your chances of receiving financial support. To help you get started, we’ve put together a list of scholarships that are currently available as of December 2024.
Spring Burress Injury Law Scholarships : As Burress Injury Law seeks to help injured victims to persevere through their struggles, they want to also help students who have faced difficulties and have demonstrated the will to volunteer and support others. To apply for this scholarship, you must write an essay of 500 words or less answering a prompt on how you persevered over a challenge that helped shape your future. Winners will be awarded between $1000-$5000. The deadline to submit is December 2.
Wells Call Injury Lawyers Law School Scholarships: Wells Call Injury Lawyers are offering a $2,500 scholarship to an aspiring law school student. Applicants must write an essay of 500-1000 words answering the prompt: If you were able to change one state or federal law, what law would it be and why? How would this law impact others in your community or society as a whole? Must submit by December 2.
Mark T. Banner Scholarship Current law school students can apply for this scholarship as long as they show commitment to pursue in IP law and are part of an underrepresented group. Applicants must submit a three-page statement on subjects relating to ethics, diversity, and commitment. The recipient will receive $10,000. Submission due December 6.
Committing to Justice Scholarship: The Texas Law Firm of Hutchinson & Foreman is offering financial assistance of $1,500 to help students pursuing a law degree. Law students must show proof of enrollment and are interested in representing plaintiffs in civil rights or employment discrimination cases to be eligible to apply. Video submission and other required documents due December 9.
Lem Garcia Law Scholarship : Lem Garcia Law is awarding one aspiring attorney a $1,000 scholarship to help with law school expenses. Law school students must apply by December 15 with a submission of an 800 word essay that answers the following: share any personal experiences in advocacy, whether for themselves or others, and how these moments shaped their commitment to the legal profession.
Dreams Without Borders Scholarship: In hopes to support immigrant families who are committed to making a difference in immigration law and policy, Immigration Legal Advisors is offering a $1,000 scholarship. Applicants must submit a 500 word essay or a two-minute video essay relating to a prompt about improving immigration law. Deadline to apply is December 16.
2024 Recognizing Public Servants Scholarship: To honor and respect public servants in the community, David Benowitz is awarding $1,000 to a student who expresses their interest in public service. Students can apply by submitting a 750-1,000 word essay talking about the importance of public servants and their crucial role in the law field. Apply by December 31.
