Financial Assistance: Scholarships to Apply for in August 2024

Law school is expensive. Students who want to apply to law school may find the cost intimidating, however, to ease the worries, there are plenty of scholarship opportunities! Many have already reached their deadline but there are also new ones that have opened up and are ready to apply for! Here at Barrier Breakers®, Inc., we aim to provide resources and services to help students on their journey to law school including finding financial support to lessen the burden of financial insecurity. 

Numerous organizations provide scholarships to assist both prospective and current law students with their tuition costs. The more you explore and apply for these opportunities, the higher your chances of securing financial support. To help you get started, we've compiled a list of scholarships offering financial aid as of August 2024.


  1. The Law Office of J.Kevin Clark, PC Empowering Families Scholarship: Students who are interested in doing family law have a chance to apply for the Empowering Families Scholarship as they are seeking to award a $1000 scholarship to a student who is passionate about making a positive impact on families. To submit, students must answer a prompt through a 90 second video, offering information relating to their enrollment for 2024 semester pre-law courses by August 14.

  2. Skywalker Mission Education Scholarship: The Skywalker Mission Education Scholarship hopes to provide assistance in lowering financial burden for students who are studying law. Many aspiring law students may feel limited or discouraged because of the costs of further education and W&L Law wants to support them by offering a $500 scholarship. To apply, explain why you think legal education is important and submit by August 15. Winners will be announced on September 15.

  3. Oliver Law Office Scholarship: Oliver Law Office is offering a scholarship of $1000 to one student studying law, however, depending on the number and quality of applicants, there may be more than one scholarship given. This scholarship will assist in school related costs including tuition, fees, and more. The student must provide an essay of 500-100 words relating to their interest in law, acceptance in law school or studying pre-law in an accredited school as well as having up-to-date resume and transcripts. Application deadline is August 15

  4. TJ Crowson Memorial Scholarship: In honor of the late attorney, TJ Crowson, the Crowson family has offered a scholarship opportunity for aspiring law students. This scholarship is for students that are a highschool senior or an undergraduate who are of low income and or lack any resources to pursue law education. The Crowson family is granting two winners who are given $1500 each to support their journey. Students must submit by August 16 answering an essay prompt and more.

  5. The Blossom Law Caregiver Scholarship: Blossom Law aims to provide legal services for families struggling with debt and values familial bond especially when it comes to caregiving for loved ones. Blossom Law offers a $1000 scholarship for students with caregiving parents or who have been one themselves. Submissions require an essay of 500-1000 words on their experience, enrolled in university along with at least a 3.0 GPA. This scholarship application is due August 21

  6. Fawell & Fawell Out-of-State Student Scholarship: Students who are out of state may apply for this scholarship of $1000. This means they are pursuing an education in law outside of the state where they lived with parents or attended high school at. With college costs rising, Fawell & Fawell is determined to support students to pay for tuition by offering this scholarship opportunity. Students must have a 3.0 GPA and submit a 200-300 word essay on their challenges as an out-of-state student, to apply. Deadline is August 21.

  7. Trombley & Hanes Scholarship: Trombley & Hanes is awarding a student who is pursuing an education in law with a scholarship of $500. The student must be entering a U.S. school in Fall 2024 with a 3.0 GPA showing a letter of acceptance. Requirements for this scholarship is to provide a resume, an essay, headshot, and completed transcripts. Application is due August 31.
