Introducing Our Database For High School Summer Programs And Internships

‘Tis the season to apply to summer programs and internships!

Participating in a summer internship or camp can add a boost to your college application/resume and equip you with tools before you enroll in your first semester of undergrad. A summer STEM program may help you conduct and publish research or build something new. A summer arts program may aid you in building a professional portfolio. There are pre-college camps that prepare you for the academic rigor and social climate of college. The summer is also a great opportunity for taking courses and learning subjects that you are curious about, excel in, or struggle with.

Many summer programs have deadlines in January and February so I wanted to create and share a helpful resource you can utilize in your search.

I have recently created a spreadsheet database filled with high school summer internships and programs. Programs included varying across STEM, the Arts, Leadership, Pre-College, and Courses/Learning. The spreadsheet also included relevant information such as deadlines, costs or money earned, and requirements. I have also included a tab that lists helpful search engines so students can conduct their own summer program search according to their interests.

Keep in mind that this spreadsheet is continually evolving, so be sure to check it regularly! It is also important to note that many of these summer programs have applications that mimic college or employment applications - you may need to write essays, submit letters of recommendation, or provide information about your financial background. Just because this is a short-term summer program, it does NOT mean you can rush these applications and submit mediocre materials.

I tell my students to approach summer applications like their college apps - make a timeline, make an outline, proofread and revise, and revise again!

I help my students with their applications to summer programs and edit essays for a variety of opportunities and internships. Check out my packages for college counseling here.
